NCTA teachers are deeply committed to the unique needs of each and every student. They come to us not only because of their professional qualifications and skill set, but they also share a deep love for learning and model a servant’s heart. Teddi Miller exemplifies these characteristics. We hope you enjoy this special interview as she shares her excitement for the upcoming year:
Q: Why do you choose to teach at NCTA?
A: I wake up every morning excited because I absolutely love teaching. I love working with students. I love getting them excited about learning!
Q: What makes this a healthy place to grow up?
A: Happy Hill Farm and NCTA are a loving Christian community. I get to watch as children’s lives are transformed by that love. Maybe they come from a broken family, or they’re from a tough economic situation. Maybe they’re very shy.
And then they come in and we start working with them, surrounding them with a family atmosphere and a structured environment. They come alive. I wish you could see how they come out of those little shells and get excited about learning . . . about life!
Q: How does faith play a part in your relationships with students?
A: Not only do I educate students academically, I am able to encourage them spiritually. To be able to stop and pray, to pull out Scripture, to guide and direct them is ultimately the reason why I love what I do.
Q: What is your greatest hope for the students you teach?
A: My greatest hope is that the kids I serve would become strong Christian leaders. That they would leave NCTA and go out into the community and succeed . . . and be proud of where they came from.
Q: What would you like to share with Happy Hill Farm’s donors and friends?
A: When you give, you will change a child’s life in a spectacular way. Students come here and leave changed. They gain a family. They gain an education. They gain a spiritual background. And they leave as leaders who will make a difference in our world.
BECAUSE OF YOUR SUPPORT, teachers like Teddi are transforming lives every day, helping children to become strong leaders who will make a difference for decades to come. Imagine all they will learn this year in school as a result of your gifts!
