Thanks to you, young lives are changed at Happy Hill Farm

Has a book ever changed your life? Maybe Anne of Green Gables, The Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice, or The Sun Also Rises?

Every summer, our middle and high school students participate in a rigorous reading program, designed to introduce them to classics filled with big ideas, imagination starters, and life lessons. To cement these lessons, each book becomes part of our upcoming fall curriculum, including planned research projects and papers.

But that’s only one of the important programs our students participate in during the summer months!

According to Amanda Schwausch, the Dean of Faculty here at North Central Texas Academy (NCTA), our English for International Students (EIS) will continue through the summer. That means international students from a host of different countries will improve their academic skills and prepare to succeed in the upcoming school year!

Beyond their academic pursuits, our diverse group of youngsters will be working in the Happy Hill Farm garden and kitchens—some of the most popular activities on the farm!

Other students who remain with us over the summer take part in all kinds of fun, enriching activities from sports camps to mission trips to outdoor education, which introduces them to the lifelong sports of hunting and fishing.

We always are excited to offer this unique five-week outdoor education, which teaches ethics, wildlife identification and management, conservation, archery and firearm skills, and safety. In addition, students learn basic fishing skills, camping, and outdoor emergency training.

Every student who successfully passes this course will be invited to attend special hunting and fishing events provided by the Texas Game Wardens Association and private ranchers. They even earn a lifetime hunter education certification!

Gradon Schaub, one of our teachers, describes the wonderful environment here at NCTA and Happy Hill Farm during the summer—made possible by friends and partners like you. He shares,

“Our students work so very hard in a boarding school environment all year long. Even during the summer, they continue to be equipped and enabled to learn what they need to know to be successful not only in their education, but also in their personal Christian life.

“But in addition to reading some great books and doing some community service, they also will get some much-needed rest and relaxation!”

Thank you for supporting the students here at Happy Hill Farm … we count on you all year long to help provide for their needs. The summer months do tend to be a lean time, as our donors go on vacation or move out of normal routines. So please, take a moment to send a generous summer gift today!
