Growing by Leaps and Bounds

New to the campus beginning in 2008 were the following projects: the Jane H. Browning Welcome Center (to handle the hundreds of visitors now coming to the Farm); the T. Boone Pickens Training Center and Guest Lodge (to accommodate special guests and to train others from across the country so they might duplicate the success of the Happy Hill Farm Academy program in other regions); three new residences for children (each having eight boys or girls); and the growth of the Academic Complex to some 60,000 square feet of classroom space, labs, library, and much more.

“There are so many students with potential that need Happy Hill Farm Academy,” said Ed Shipman, Founder. “Knowing the money and time that would be involved, we’ve made a ‘15-Year Advancement Plan.’ We’ve added three more homes for 24 additional students. To be able to handle the planned expansion, we needed more academic space.” The Welcome Center and the Guest Lodge and Training Center will greatly strengthen the Academy’s program. Several individuals and foundations made major financial commitments to help build the Academy, as well as the Welcome Center, the Training Center and Guest Lodge, and the three homes for children.

“There is much yet to be done,” said Gloria Shipman, who has given oversight to all of the Academy’s construction to date. “In a residential school and campus this size, it takes thousands of caring and interested people to help provide the many, on-going needs . . . school books, clothing, teachers and staff members, utilities, maintenance, athletic equipment, agricultural and horticultural supplies . . . the list is endless in a project like Happy Hill Farm Academy.”
You may make a contribution on line, or you may write or call and find out how you can get involved in the much-needed expansion of the Academy’s campus and program.
