Accomplishments
Here is a sample of some past accomplishments:
- In District Art Competition, Happy Hill Farm Academy had a total of 70 entries, with 75 being the max that can be entered. A total of 32 entries placed in the top 4 which qualified them to go to the State Competition, which resulted in placing Happy Hill Farm Academy first overall among the five schools in our district.
- In Academic Competition, four students participated in the District Meet. Out of these four, two qualified to go to State. At State, we had two first place winners, one in Persuasive Speaking and one in Poetry Interpretation.
- The Farm’s choir also had wonderful successes. In District, we won first place overall. Our choir scored a I, the Praise Band scored a I, three vocal ensembles scored a I, ten vocal soloists scored a I, and one piano soloist scored a I!
- At the State Competition, we scored second place overall. The choir scored a I, two vocal ensembles scored a I, and two vocal soloists scored a I. The other eight soloists scored a II.
Happy Hill Farm Academy also participates in the Texas Youth and Government Program. Ten delegates worked in pairs writing bills for the District Meet. All of the bills passed at District, and the students learned what they could do to make their bills better for the State Meet. The month of December was spent rewriting the bills, and in January, the students went to the State Meet in Austin. This is a very exciting time, as they get to be in the Capitol Building and on the House and Senate Floors. Two of their bills passed in committee. Our students watched closely and learned what they need to do in order to get their bills heard and passed on the House and Senate Floors. One of our students was elected to attend the National Youth and Government conference for three years in a row — quite an honor!
Two students have participated in the Duke talent competition.
